NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks fell ahead of weekly U.S. inventory data. An expected interest rate statement from the Federal Open Market Committee is also on Wall Street's radar screen. Crude oil futures fell $1.22 to $76.63 a barrel. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI 948.65, -4.22, -0.44%) fell 0.3% to 950. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG 518.97, -3.08, -0.59%) fell 0.7% to 519. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX 173.69, -1.86, -1.06%) dropped 1% to 174. BP PLC (BP 30.08, +0.40, +1.35%) rose 1% to $29.98.
