TH: Gold remains high on growing dollar value this week
KATHMANDU: Increase in the value of dollar and international price of gold has increased the trading price of gold in the domestic market. Gold in the domestic market is traded for Rs 300 more on Friday than its price in the local market on Thursday. According to Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (NEGOSIDA), gold on Friday closed at Rs 30,950 per 10 gram that is Rs 300 more than the Thursday price which was Rs 30,650.
Gold was trading for $ 1,246 per ounce in the international market on Friday. Informing about the present market demand and supply, Tej Ratna Shakya, president of NEGOSIDA, said. “The demand of gold in the domestic market has increased to more than 30 kg per day in the month of Asadh but the supply is not satisfactory to fulfil the increased market demand,” he said.
“Gold imported till Jestha was 700 kg, with 161 kilos imported in Baisakh,” Shakya said adding that at present the demand has grown a lot but compared to it, the supply is very low. Gold this week opened at Rs 31,000 per 10 gram, which further decreased to Rs 30,735 on Monday and later to Rs 30,480 per 10 gram on Tuesday. However gold price increased to Rs 30,650 per 10 gram on Wednesday and remained at the same price on Thursday too. Friday, gold market closed at Rs 30,950 per 10 gram. Meanwhile, silver opened at Rs 491.50 per 10 gram on Sunday. Silver was trading for Rs 492 per 10 gram on Monday but came down to Rs 487 per 10 gram on Tuesday and remained at the same price till Friday and closed at the same price, said NEGOSIDA.
