MW: U.S. dollar pares loss

By Cynthia Lin
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. dollar regained some ground midday Friday after having dropped to its lowest in nearly two months on news that the U.S. jobs growth in June declined for the first time this year. The dollar index (DXY 84.39, -0.33, -0.39%) , a measure of the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, rebounded to 84.36 from 84.239 after the release of the jobs data, but still lower from 84.680 in North American trading late Thursday. U.S. stocks extended losses in mid-session trade, with each of the major benchmarks sinking nearly 1%.
