BS: Base metals recover on firming global trend

Copper and base metals regained strength to trade up to Rs 2 per kg higher on the wholesale non-ferrous metal market today on fresh buying by stockists following pick up in industrial demand and firming trend overseas.

Buying activity in base metals picked up after copper recovered for the first time in three days in Asia after a two-week low on purchases by Chinese traders.

Marketmen said apart from firming trend at the London Metal Exchange, fresh buying by stockists on pick up in demand from consuming industries mainly attributed the rise in base metal prices.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery rose 1 per cent to $6,551 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange. In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were rebounded by Rs 2 each Rs 360, Rs 379 and Rs 338 per kilo, respectively.
