EN: Euro rises against dollar on U.S. housing report
The euro rose against the U.S. dollar on Monday after a disappointing housing report from United States. The National Association of Home Builders said its seasonally adjusted housing market index fell to 14 in July, the lowest level since March 2009.
Markets are waiting for the release of European bank "stress tests" due on Friday.
The euro rose to 1.2960 U.S. dollars in late New York trading from 1.2947 dollars late Friday. The British pound dropped to 1. 5237 dollars from 1.5307 dollars late Friday, while the dollar edged up to 86.77 Japanese yen from 86.71 yen.
