RTRS: Gold closes higher in Europe, boosted by investor buying
* Spot gold XAU= closes at $1,224.10 a troy ounce in London
compared with $1,214.50 late in New York on Friday. * Silver XAG= ends at $18.40 an ounce versus $18.08.
* Gold rose to its highest level since early July, reprising
its safe-haven properties, as gloomy Japanese economic data hit
shares and stoked investor concern about the pace of global
economic recovery. [GOL/]
* Platinum XPT= ends at $1,529.15 an ounce from $1,520.00 and
palladium XPD= at $480.30 an ounce from $472.00.
