NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Oil prices edged higher on Thursday, supported by modest gains in U.S. stock futures and ahead of U.S. weekly jobless claims data. The contract for September delivery added 18 cents to $75.60 a barrel in recent trade on Globex. On Wednesday, the benchmark contract shed 35 cents to end at $75.42 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after the government reported supplies fell less than expected.
