MW: Crude dips further, gold adds to gain after Philly

By Claudia Assis
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil added to losses and gold added to gains Thursday after the Philly Fed and the leading indicators index. September crude declined $1.06, or 1.4%, to $74.36 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract was off around 35 cents before the data. December gold added $6.90 to $1,238.30 an ounce on the Comex division of the Nymex. The contract was up $5.20 before the reports. Gold had trimmed its advance immediately after the data, but as equities fell it found new upward momentum.
