BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures for October delivery trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange were up 0.7% to $74.35 a barrel as U.S. stocks were poised to open higher Monday on the strength of merger activity. The ICE US Dollar Index (DXY 82.98, -0.08, -0.10%) , which tracks the movement of the dollar against a basket of foreign currencies, was down 0.1%.
