(Reuters) - The pound rose to a seven-week high against the dollar on Monday, with traders citing sterling demand related to dividend payments from UK banks.
Sterling GBP=D4 hit a high of $1.5853, up around 0.2 percent on the day.
The pound also gained versus the euro EURGBP=D4, which fell 0.3 percent to 84.98 pence EURGBP=D4.
