RTRS: Sterling hits 8-month high vs dollar above $1.60
LONDON Oct 7 (Reuters) - Sterling hit an eight-month high above the key $1.60 level on Thursday, extending gains after the Bank of England left monetary policy unchanged.
Sterling GBP=D4 rose as high as $1.6008, its strongest since early February.
The Bank of England left interest rates at 0.5 percent for a 20th consecutive month on Thursday and kept its asset-buying programme on hold. [ID:nLAC005772]
The decision was expected, but there has been speculation in the market that BoE policymakers may be veering towards implementing more quantitative easing.
