MW: Treasurys gain, dollar stays down after claims

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Treasury prices added to gains and the dollar pared losses modestly on Thursday after the U.S. Labor Department said jobless claims fell to 445,000 in the latest week, a lower level than many economists expected. Yields on 2-year notes (UST2YR 0.37, -0.01, -3.13%) , which move inversely to prices, fell 3 basis points to 0.36%, touching the lowest level ever. The dollar index (DXY 77.12, -0.27, -0.34%) , a measure of the U.S. unit against a basket of six major currencies traded at 77.151, compared to 77.113 before the data and from 77.397 in late New York trading on Wednesday. The euro (EURUSD 1.3980, +0.0051, +0.3661%) rose to $1.3977 versus $1.3934 Wednesday.
