AAA-Mid-Atlantic reports that the average price for a gallon of regular in the Richmond area has risen to $2.66 a gallon. That's a surge of nearly 8 cents a gallon in just the past week.
Nationwide, prices are on the rise as the cost of oil has risen above $80 a barrel, an important benchmark in oil futures. A weak dollar is also stressing prices.
Some analysts are expecting prices to continnue to rise over the next couple of months unless economic conditions improve more than expected.
