| LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets edged lower in early trading Tuesday, with most sectors trading in the red. Among companies in focus, software group Autonomy (UK:AU. 1,370, -49.00, -3.45%) fell 3.2% after reporting its third-quarter results and house builder Bellway (UK:BWY 593.00, -8.50, -1.41%) dropped 1.8% after saying buyers are waiting on the sidelines ahead of a U.K. government spending review. Technology stocks were broadly lower following results from Apple Inc. (AAPL 318.00, +3.26, +1.04%) , with Infineon Technologies (DE:IFX 5.47, -0.17, -3.03%) down over 2% in Frankfurt. The U.K. FTSE 100 index (UK:UKX 5,722, -20.05, -0.35%) fell 0.3% to 5,725.23, the French CAC 40 index (FR:PX1 3,824, -10.29, -0.27%) dropped 0.2% to 3,826.43 and the German DAX 30 index (DX:DAX 6,509, -7.34, -0.11%) was broadly flat at 6,515.63. |
