MW: RBA minutes show rate arguments finely balanced

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Minutes out Tuesday from the Reserve Bank of Australia's latest interest rate meeting showed that members felt the arguments for interest rates were finely balanced. "While the board recognized that it could not wait indefinitely to see whether risks materialised, members judged that they had the flexibility to do so on this occasion," the RBA minutes from the meeting held Oct. 5 showed. Economists had widely expected the RBA to hike rates from the current cash rate of 4.5%. The Australian dollar traded up 0.4% at 99.42 U.S. cents after the release of the minutes.
