PN: Natural gas-fired power plant up and running in Canada
TransCanada Corp. announced the 683 MW, C$700 million (US$687 million) natural gas-fired Halton Hills Generating Station is operational and was completed on time and on budget. Halton Hills will operate under a 20-year power purchase arrangement with the Ontario Power Authority.
The natural gas-fired power plant uses low emissions technology to meet high environmental standards.
TransCanada also owns 50 percent of the Portlands Energy Centre (PEC), a 550 MW, combined-cycle natural gas generation plant in Toronto. PEC is a limited partnership between Ontario Power Generation and TransCanada. TransCanada is also part owner of Bruce Power.
