Nov 18 (Reuters) - The euro rose over 1 percent on the day versus the yen on Thursday as the single currency gained brodly on optimism regarding a possible aid package for Ireland, which fuelled demand for higher-yielding assets.
The euro rose to 113.78 yen EURJPY=R, its highest since Nov. 10, also holding gains of around 1 percent versus the dollar EUR=.
European Union and International Monetary Fund officials arrived in Ireland on Thursday for talks aimed at resolving Ireland's debt crisis.
