NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks posted modest gains on Thursday after a big jump in the previous session. The NYSE Arca Oil Index (XOI 1,127, +2.01, +0.18%) rose less than 0.1% to 1,126. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index (XNG 576.63, +1.81, +0.32%) rose 0.3% to 576. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index (OSX 232.73, +7.05, +3.12%) rose 0.2% to 233.
