WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The U.S. current account deficit narrowed to $113.3 billion in the fourth quarter, or 3.1% of gross domestic product, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday. The narrower deficit was accounted for by a decrease in the deficit on goods and services. The deficit is down sharply from the peak of 6.5% of GDP in the fourth quarter of 2005. But the deficit has been widening steadily after hitting a low of 2.4% in the second quarter of 2009.
