FRX: European stocks fluctuate by mid-day
 
Swinging between profits and losses, European stocks fluctuated but remained close to the opening levels as Japan’s nuclear crisis concerns eased. Parmalat SpA and Kouni Reisen AG fell as investors said they sold shares as “increased risk of a split board”.
As of 7:55 EST the European gauge, STOXX 600 fell 0.04% to trade at 272.43. As for the euro area benchmark, the STOXX 50 it fell 0.21% to trade at 2560.04. The Swiss Market Index gained 0.10% or 6.39 points to trade at 6230.30.
Within the STOXX 600 index, the sectors that dropped were the Consumer Goods, Industrial and Basic Materials sectors respectively. The share that depreciated the most within the index was Parmalat SpA as it dropped by 6.0 percent to last trade at €2.32 a share.
Meanwhile, key benchmark indices in European markets traded lower, where the British FTSE 100 Index shed 9.90 points or 0.17 percent at 5776.19, whereas the most depreciating sectors within the index were Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Industrial sectors respectively, where the most depreciating share within the index sector was Rio Tinto PLC as it shed 2.7 points from the index to trade at £4011.50 a share.
CAC 40 was trading at 3911.79 up by 0.19 percent; the sectors that appreciated the most was witnessed in the Financials, Oil & Gas and Telecommunication sectors respectively, while the most appreciating share within the index was Total SA as it added 4.0 points to the index to last trade at €41.86 a share.
As for Germany’s DAX 30, the index fell 0.21%, trading at 6802.03, where the most depreciating sectors within the index were Consumer Services, Industrial and Consumer Goods sectors respectively, while the most depreciating share within the index was Metro AG as it slashed 3.58% to last trade at €48.31 a share.
