MW: Home prices fall for sixth straight month in Jan.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The prices of single-family homes in 20 major cities fell a non-seasonally adjusted 1.0% in January, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index released Tuesday by Standard & Poor's. This is the sixth straight monthly decline. Prices have moved down 3.1% in the past year. Home prices declined in 19 of the 20 metropolitan areas tracked by Case-Shiller in January compared with December. Washington D.C. was the only market where home prices rose in January.
