Brent crude oil prices open today’s trading session back near $126 a barrel as a weaker US dollar has investors once again buying back into oil futures and other commodities including gold.
Latest Brent Oil Price
In London, Brent crude oil futures for June 2011 delivery was trading at $125.60 a barrel, 06.40 GMT this morning on the ICE Futures Exchange after closing off yesterday’s session at $125.46.
US Dollar Weakens
The US dollar fell in currency market trading yesterday after the US Fed signalled that American interest rates will remain near zero for an extended period of time.
The ICE US Dollar Index, which tracks the US dollar against six major world currencies was down to 73.145 in trading this morning, which is a fresh 16 month low against the euro. Analysts expect that the US dollar is set to weaken further, fueling short term gains for oil prices and other commodities.
