MW:Stocks to watch Friday: Dollar Thrifty, Agilent

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Among the companies whose shares are expected to see active trade in Friday’s session are Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. and Agilent Technologies Inc.

Wal-Mart WMT +1.00% , part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, announced a deal to acquire a minority stake in the holding company of Chinese online retailer Yihaodian. Wal-Mart, which didn’t disclose financial terms or the size of the stake, said the transaction is expected to close within 60 days.

Agilent A +0.60% is expected to report second-quarter earnings of 65 cents a share, according to the consensus in an analyst survey by FactSet Research.

Dollar Thrifty DTG +1.54% said late Thursday that it will cooperate with Hertz Global Holdings Inc. HTZ +1.82% on securing antitrust regulatory clearance for Hertz’s renewed acquisition proposal. Dollar Thrifty’s board is reviewing an offer from Hertz to buy the company at a price of $72 a share, superior to one made by Avis Budget Group Inc. CAR -0.22% for which no formal agreement was ever signed.

Also after Thursday’s closing bell, Nordstom Inc. JWN +0.97% reported first-quarter earnings that came in a penny shy of analysts’ expectations and announced a share buyback for up to $750 million of the high-end retailer’s common stock.
