MW:Vital Metals: New CEO to Drive Gold and Tungsten Programs

West African gold explorer and Queensland tungsten developer, Vital Metals Ltd (ASX: VML) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Strizek as the Company's Chief Executive Officer with effect from 18 July 2011.
Chairman, David Macoboy said Mr Strizek will take over the role vacated by previous CEO Howard Carr, following a period of notice with his current employer.
"We are delighted to have attracted a candidate of Mr Strizek's calibre to Vital. He is a highly regarded resources industry professional with extensive experience in geological evaluation and mining across a diverse range of minerals."
"Vital has two equally prospective projects in the pipeline, the Doulnia Gold Project in Burkina Faso, and the advanced Watershed Tungsten Project in Northern Queensland - and the Board is confident Mr Strizek is the right candidate to progress their respective exploration and development programs. He is also the right candidate to bring new projects to Vital over time."
Mr Strizek is a member of AusIMM. He has a Bachelor of Science (Geology) degree from Macquarie University and a post graduate qualification in geostatistics and brings to Vital 15 years experience in the mining industry in senior geology, management, consulting and Director roles.
Currently Mr Strizek is General Manager: Exploration at Iron Ore Holdings Ltd. His past roles include Director of Geology and Exploration with Mineralogy, where he was responsible for exploration, tenement management and business development. Prior to this he worked with both Hellman & Schofield consultants and KCGM.
Mr Strizek has considerable commercial, technical and operations acumen in the resources sector including extensive experience gained in senior geologist roles in various Australian goldfields.
About Vital Metals
Vital Metals Ltd is an Australian-based mineral exploration and development company focused on progressing two highly prospective mineral projects: The Doulnia Gold Project in southern Burkina Faso, West Africa and The Watershed Tungsten Project in far north Queensland, Australia.
Doulnia Gold Project - Burkina Faso
In December 2009, Vital entered into a farm-in agreement with Ampella Mining Ltd to earn up to 80% of the Doulnia Gold Project in southern Burkina Faso, West Africa. Vital has completed a comprehensive review of previous exploration and the regional to local geophysical, structural, geological and geochemical attributes of the Project.
The Phase 1 drill program confirmed the highly prospective nature of the project in general and the Kollo Prospect in particular and the current Phase 2 program is aimed at expanding that potential.
Watershed Tungsten Project Queensland
The Watershed scheelite (calcium tungstate) Project, in far North Queensland, 150 kilometres north-west of Cairns, is the Company's flagship venture. Watershed is at the pre-feasibility stage. The project has attracted considerable attention due to recent, strong increases in the price of tungsten largely attributable to Chinese export restrictions.
