IRVING, Texas (AP) – Retail gasoline prices dropped sharply across Texas and the nation this week as those prices began to catch up with falling crude oil prices.
The weekly AAA Texas gasoline price survey released Thursday shows that the average retail price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline fell by eight cents to $3.81 across Texas and $3.90 nationwide.
The least expensive gasoline in Texas is in Amarillo, where the average price fell by 8 cents to $3.71. The most expensive was in Galveston, where the average price fell 7 cents to $3.84 per gallon. Houston’s average price was just under $3.71 on Thursday and down to $3.66 by Friday morning.
The auto club statement says crude oil is now trading around $98 per barrel after falling from nearly $115 earlier this month.
