MUMBAI: The rupee remained weak in afternoon trade on Thursday tailing softer local shares and the euro, but was stuck in a narrow 8-10 paise band in quiet trade.
* At 2 p.m., the partially convertible rupee was at 44.92/93 against the dollar against the previous close of 44.84/85.
* Traders said rupee recovered from low of 44.98 touched in early trades on back of robust corporate dollar inflows.
* The rupee has so far moved in 44.9025-44.9800 band and is widely expected to stay in 44.85-44.95 range for the remainder of the session.
* The euro was at $1.4385 and the index of the dollar against six major currencies was up 0.03 percent at 74.703 points.
* The benchmark stock index was down 0.6 percent after an overnight sell-off on Wall Street spooked investors across Asia following a string of soft data from major economies.
