MW: Treasurys edge up as U.S. stocks extend decline

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Treasury prices turned up in midmorning trading Friday, pushing yields down as U.S. stocks extended their decline. Yields on 10-year notes 10_YEAR -0.17% , which move inversely to prices, turned down by 2 basis points to 2.90%. They rose to 2.94% after a report on U.S. durable-goods orders improved more than forecast. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -0.82% fell 48 points to 12,001, slipping under 12,000 briefly.
