RTTN: Dollar Strengthens Ahead Of U.S. Economic Data
(RTTNews) - The Reuters/University of Michigan's final report on the consumer sentiment index for June is scheduled to be released at 9:55 am ET. The consumer sentiment index is expected to be left unrevised at 71.8.
At 10 am ET, the Institute for Supply Management is set to release the results of its national manufacturing survey for June. Economists expect a further retreat in the index to 52 from the 53.5 reported for April, when it dropped 6.5 points.
Additionally, the Commerce Department's construction spending report to be released at 10 am ET is expected to show a 0.1 percent decline in spending for May following a 0.4 percent increase in the previous month.
The US dollar edged higher against most of its major opponents ahead of the data. The greenback is presently trading at 81.0 against the yen, 1.4464 against the euro, 1.6024 against the pound and 0.8477 against the Swiss franc.
