SG:Minara Resources halts nickel production on technical breakdown
Reuters reported that Australia's second largest nickel producer Minara Resources has halted production for a week due to some technical breakdown at its acid plant.
Fortunately, the company has enough nickel inventories to cover the shutdown. The production will resume when the company replaces the faulty equipment.
Meanwhile, the company plans to produce about 33,000 tonnes to 37,000 tonnes of nickel in 2011. Since demand for nickel is slow at this time, the incident should be little impact on the price of nickel.
