MUMBAI, JULY 8:
The rupee strengthened by 10 paise to Rs 44.33 against the US dollar in the early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today, boosted by gains posted by other Asian currencies against the American currency and a firming trend in the stock market.
The domestic unit had gained 5 paise to close at Rs 44.43/44 per US dollar in the previous session amid bullish equities and frenzied capital inflows.
Forex dealers said the dollar’s losses against other Asian currencies overseas and a higher opening in the stock market mainly kept the rupee sentiment firm.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex moved up by 53.40 points or 0.27 per cent to 19,131.70 in the opening trade today.
