UNDATED - Georgia gasoline prices surged last week after weeks of decline and are up 11 cents compared to a week ago.
The statewide average for a gallon of regular went up two cents Monday to $3.57, eleven cents higher than this time last week, and almost exactly where it was this time last month.
National oil analyst Trilby Lundberg says there's a reason for that.
"The price of crude (oil) has rebounded to even higher than it was before" and is at a two-month high.
But, she says prices may be nearing a plateau, since high unemployment has reduced gasoline demand and put retailers in a difficult spot where raising prices may not be an option.
