MW:Gold futures build on gains as debt talks stall
SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures advanced in electronic trading Tuesday, with the precious metal rising $2.90 to $1,615.10 an ounce, with U.S. lawmakers still unable to reach a deal on lifting the debt ceiling. Gold for August delivery GC1Q +0.21% hit a fresh record high of $1,624.30 an ounce on Monday and a new settlement high of $1,612.20 an ounce, after U.S. debt talks stalled and Greece's credit rating was cut again.
