KARACHI: The dollar remained up against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said on Friday. The dollar commenced the day's trading at Rs 86.47 for buying, gained seven paisas and closed at Rs 86.54 for buying and Rs 86.59 for selling. The euro lost strength against the rupee as it started the day's trading at Rs 125.13 for buying, lost Rs 1.60 and closed at Rs 123.53 for buying and Rs 123.73 for selling. The pound sterling also remained low against the rupee as it started the day's trading at Rs 141.73 for buying, slumped 81 paisas and closed at Rs 140.92 for buying and Rs 141.12 for selling.
Open market: The dollar remained up against the rupee, dealers said. The greenback started the day's trading at Rs 86.05 for buying, appreciated by five paisas and closed at Rs 86.10 for buying and Rs 86.40 for selling. The European single currency depreciated against the rupee as it started the day's trading at Rs 124.00 for buying, declined Rs 1.20 and closed at Rs 122.80 for buying and Rs 124.20 for selling. The British currency appreciated against the rupee as it started the day's trading at Rs 139.80 for buying, increased 20 paisas and closed at Rs 140.00 for buying and Rs 141.50 for selling.
