RTTN: Australian Dollar Edges Down Against Major Rivals
(RTTNews) - The Australian dollar traded lower further against major opponents during New York late morning trading on Friday. The Aussie dropped to a new multi-week low against the euro, fresh multi-month lows against the yen and the US dollar.
Extending its previous session's downward trading, the Australian currency declined further against the euro in late morning deals and touched a new multi-week low of 1.3649 by about 11:20 am ET. As of now, the Aussie is worth 1.3624 versus the euro, compared to yesterday's close of 1.3471.
After edging slightly up in early morning session, the Australian currency dropped against its US and Japanese counterparts during today's late morning session. At 11:20 am ET, the Aussie fell to fresh multi-month lows of 81.53 against the yen and 1.0386 versus the greenback from early highs of 83.18 and 1.0529, respectively.
The Australian dollar that closed Thursday's New York session at 1.2517 against the New Zealand dollar, also showed weakness in today's morning deals and slipped to 1.2447 as of 11:20 am ET. Currently, the pair is trading near 1.2481.
