MUMBAI: Ratings agency CRISIL has launched a domestic gold price index, in an attempt to overcome the inconsistency among various spot prices in the country and serve as a benchmark.
The CRISIL Gold Index has a base date of Jan. 2, 2007, and is based on the landed price of 10 grams of gold in Mumbai.
Currently, the Bombay Bullion Association, a trade body, along with the state-run and private importing banks provides spot market prices.
