Indian rupee remained lower against the dollar in late trade on Wednesday as worries Europe's debt problems may snowball into a banking crisis hit global markets and pushed investors towards perceived safety of the dollar.
The partially convertible rupee was at 47.67 a dollar at 4.15 p.m., after touching 48.02 per dollar, its weakest in nearly 2 years, compared with its Tuesday’s close of 47.59 a dollar.
