The Australian and New Zealand dollars weakened amid concern European leaders will fail to agree on a solution for the region’s debt crisis.
The so-called Aussie slid to 97.40 U.S. cents as of 8:09 a.m. in Sydney, from 97.81 cents yesterday in New York. it fell to 74.55 yen from 74.93. The New Zealand dollar retreated 0.3 percent to 77.41 U.S. cents, and depreciated 0.4 percent to 59.24 yen.
