PTI: Crude oil futures decline on lower global trend
Crude oil prices fell by Rs. 21 to Rs. 3,838 per barrel in futures trade on Tuesday as speculators offloaded their positions on a weakening global trend.
Trading sentiment turned bearish after crude oil dropped in New York as investors speculated that Europe's debt crisis will slow the economy and curb fuel demand as crude supplies climb.
Crude oil for November delivery declined by $1.69 to $75.92 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in November declined Rs. 21, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs. 3,848 per barrel, with a business turnover of 2,575 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in October shed Rs. 20, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs. 3,815 per barrel, with an open interest of 29,683 lots.
Market analysts said fresh selling by speculators in tandem with a weakening global trend, mainly led to the fall in crude oil futures prices.
