RTTN:Indian Rupee Slips To 6-day Low Against US Dollar
(RTTNews) - The Indian rupee fell against its US counterpart on Tuesday as the latter advanced on increasing safe-haven bets and domestic equities fell sharply along with weakness in global stocks on concerns over Europe's debt crisis.
Disappointing quarterly earnings from TCS and HCL Technologies also weighed on sentiment after the two IT majors reported a sequential decline in their quarterly earnings.
The benchmark 30-share Sensex closed at 16,748, down 277 points or 1.63 percent from its previous close, while the broader Nifty index fell by 81 points or 1.58 percent to 5,038.
The rupee dropped to 49.3550 against the US dollar, down by more than 0.6 percent from Monday's close of 49.0450. On the downside, the rupee may find target around the 49.50 level.
