MW: European stocks surge after central-bank action

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European stock markets surged on Wednesday, extending gains after global central banks -- including the U.S. Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank -- took coordinated action to ease pressures in money markets. The Stoxx Europe 600 index XX:SXXP +1.05% soared 2.8% to 238.06 and Germany's DAX 30 index DX:DAX +1.74% rallied 4.2% to 6,038.26.
