LONDON (MarketWatch) -- The Markit manufacturing purchasing managers index for the euro zone rose to 46.9 in December from November's 46.4. An index of manufacturing output in the euro zone rose to 47.9 in December from 47.0. A reading of less than 50 indicates activity declined, while a reading of more than 50 signals growth.
