NEW DELHI: Tracking a firming trend in global markets, silver moved up by Rs 173 to Rs 53,660 per kg in futures trading today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March rose by Rs 173, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 53,660 per kg, with a business turnover of 4,624 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 163, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 54,821 per kg, with a trade volume of 139 lots.
Market analysts said reports of a firming trend overseas as the euro advanced after European finance ministers boosted their anti-crisis efforts by pledging extra funding to the International Monetary Fund and upbeat US economic data, supported the rise in silver prices at futures trade.
