MN: Eurozone to confirm Greek bailout deal in two March meetings
Brussels - Eurozone finance ministers will twice be asked in March to confirm the approval of a 130-billion-euro (172-billion-dollar) second bailout for Greece, sources in Brussels said Tuesday.
On March 1, on the morning before an EU summit, ministers will verify whether Greece has passed economic reforms that were attached to the aid. Voting in the Greek parliament started Wednesday, amid fresh protests organized by trade unions.
On March 9, the so-called Eurogroup panel of eurozone finance ministers will review whether enough private lenders have accepted the 107-billion-euro debt writedown deal that accompanies the new Greek bailout.
Sources said Eurogroup President and Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker had not yet decided whether to call meetings in Brussels or to hold consultations by teleconference.
