Energy stocks in the S&P 500 SPX +0.21% rose 0.2%, on average. Alpha Natural ANR +0.62% rose 1.2%, Tesoro Corp. TSO +1.53% rose 1.7% and Valero Energy Corp. VLO +2.07% moved up by 1.5%.
