BLBG:South African Stocks: Anglo American, Cashbuild, Gold One Move
The FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index (JALSH) declined for a second day, falling 0.8 percent to 33,941.79.09 at 12 noon in Johannesburg.
The following are among the most active equities in the South African market today. Stock symbols follow company names.
Anglo American Plc (AGL) , the diversified miner that makes up about 9 percent of the index, retreated for the first day in three, dropping 2.7 percent to 306.79 rand. Prices of metals including copper and nickel fell.
BHP Billiton Ltd. (BIL) , the biggest miner, lost 2.5 percent to 240 rand.
AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (ANG) , Africa’s biggest gold producer, dropped for a third day, slipping 1.3 percent to 286.45 rand. The price of gold declined for the first time in four days in London trading, falling as much as 1 percent.
Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI) , South Africa’s second-biggest producer, declined 1 percent to 105.14 rand. Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd. (HAR) fell 2.1 percent to 81.71 rand.
Cashbuild Ltd. (CSB) , a South African building materials distributor, rose to the highest on record after saying earnings per share for the six months through December increased as much as 140 percent. The stock gained 4.2 percent to 125 rand.
Gold One International Ltd. (GDO) , a gold producer, surged the most in almost three years, adding 15 percent to 4.04 rand. The company said all conditions for the purchase of its Megamine assets by Goliath Gold Mining Ltd. have been fulfilled or waived.
