(RTTNews.com) - The Australian dollar extended previous session's downtrend against its major opponents on Tuesday morning in New York. The aussie reached 1.2639 against the euro around 9:50 am ET, its lowest level since January 3. On the downside, the aussie may find support around the 1.2745 level at which the 100-day SMA lies in the pair. The Australian currency also reached a 5-day low of 87.45 against the yen and 1.0459 against the US dollar around the same time. The aussie-yen pair is now trading a few pips short of its 10-day SMA and its next barrier could be its 20-day SMA at 87.0. The immediate support for the aussie-buck pair is seen around the 1.0430 level and a move beyond would aptly be tested its 100-day SMA at 1.0380.
