NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The average retail cost of unleaded gasoline at the pump rose to $3.85 a gallon on Tuesday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. The price climbed about half a penny from Monday, and has risen from $3.81 a week ago and $3.56 a month ago. One year ago, gasoline cost an average of $3.55 at the pump.
