LONDON: Sterling rose to its highest in 19 months against the euro and gained to a two-week high versus the dollar while UK gilt futures extended losses on Wednesday after latest BOE minutes were not as dovish as many had expected.
Sterling rose to $1.5994, its highest in two weeks, up from $1.5943 before the minutes were released, while the euro fell to a 19-month low of 81.98 pence, falling past reported option barriers at 82 pence.
June gilt futures extended losses to hit a session low of 115.06, down more than half a point on the day, having stood at 115.47, down 18 ticks, before the minutes.
