LONDON: Gold prices jumped more than 1 per cent to a one-month high at $1,637.10 an ounce on Wednesday as the euro hit session highs against the dollar and as equities and oil rallied ahead of a European Central Bank meeting later.
Markets are hoping that persistent bad news out of the euro zone will prompt action from the bank to boost growth.
Spot gold was up 1.2 per cent at $1,636.76 an ounce at 0807 GMT.
