MW: U.S. stocks ease robust gains as Bernanke speaks

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks dialed back strong opening gains on Thursday as Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke delivered prepared comments on the economic outlook to Congress. The Dow industrials DJIA +0.73% rose 113.94 points, or 0.9%, to 12,528.73. The S&P 500 Index SPX +0.56% added 10.22 points, or 0.8%, to 1,325.35. The Nasdaq Composite COMP +0.44% advanced 15.58 points, or 0.6%, to 2,860.30.
